                    SENATE RESOLUTION NO.    
                            BY  SCHNEIDER
  1  1 A Resolution honoring the Iowa Resource for
  1  2    International Service.
  1  3    WHEREAS, the mission of the Iowa Resource for
  1  4 International Service is to promote international
  1  5 understanding, development, and peace by connecting
  1  6 Iowans to communities worldwide; and
  1  7    WHEREAS, the Iowa Resource for International Service
  1  8 has operated for twenty=five years; and
  1  9    WHEREAS, the Iowa Resource for International
  1 10 Service brings students from across the world to visit
  1 11 communities throughout Iowa, where the international
  1 12 students attend school, live with Iowa host families,
  1 13 and learn about the Midwest; and
  1 14    WHEREAS, the Iowa Resource for International Service
  1 15 hosts entrepreneurs, local government officials,
  1 16 legal professionals, nongovernmental organization
  1 17 leaders, and other professionals from around the world
  1 18 to participate in a three=week program in Iowa that
  1 19 covers a diverse range of topics and themes focusing
  1 20 on public diplomacy and professional training and
  1 21 development; and
  1 22    WHEREAS, the Iowa Resource for International
  1 23 Service has made important contributions to Iowa and
  1 24 the international community that have strengthened
  1 25 relationships between the State of Iowa, Iowans, and
  1 26 communities around the world; and
  1 27    WHEREAS, the Iowa Resource for International Service
  1 28 has played an integral role in international citizen
  2  1 diplomacy; NOW THEREFORE;
  2  2    BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, That the Senate
  2  3 congratulates the men and women of Iowa who have
  2  4 bettered the world through their work with the Iowa
  2  5 Resource for International Service; and
  2  6    BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Senate recognizes
  2  7 March 14, 2018, as Iowa Resource for International
  2  8 Service Day; and
  2  9    BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That, upon passage, enrolled
  2 10 copies of this resolution be sent to the Iowa Resource
  2 11 for International Service.
