  1  1    Section 1.  NEW SECTION.  257.17A  Categorical funding
  1  2 supplement uses ==== resolution.
  1  3    1.  For the school budget year beginning July 1, 2018,
  1  4 and succeeding budget years, the board of directors of a
  1  5 school district, on or before May 15 preceding the budget
  1  6 year, may adopt a resolution authorizing the school district,
  1  7 notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, to use
  1  8 all or a portion of the moneys the school district will receive
  1  9 for that budget year as the result of the teacher salary
  1 10 supplement, the professional development supplement, the early
  1 11 intervention supplement, or the teacher leadership supplement
  1 12 for any school district general fund purpose.
  1 13    2.  Within ten days of adopting the resolution under
  1 14 subsection 1, the board of directors of the school district
  1 15 shall file a copy of the resolution with the department of
  1 16 management and the department of education.
  1 17                           EXPLANATION
  1 18 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
  1 19 the explanation's substance by the members of the general assembly.
  1 20    For the school budget year beginning July 1, 2018, and
  1 21 succeeding budget years, this bill authorizes the board
  1 22 of directors of a school district to, on or before May 15
  1 23 preceding the budget year, adopt a resolution authorizing the
  1 24 school district to use all or a portion of the moneys the
  1 25 school district will receive for that budget year as the result
  1 26 of the teacher salary supplement, the professional development
  1 27 supplement, the early intervention supplement, or the teacher
  1 28 leadership supplement for any school district general fund
  1 29 purpose.
  1 30    Within 10 days of adopting the resolution, the board of
  1 31 directors of the school district must file a copy of the
  1 32 resolution with the department of management and the department
  1 33 of education.
