Section 262.9, Code 2018, is amended by adding 1 2 the following new subsections: 1 3 NEW SUBSECTION. 39. Require that undergraduate students 1 4 enrolled in an institution of higher education governed by the 1 5 board who will graduate on or after July 1, 2019, complete 1 6 a one=credit=hour financial literacy course offered by the 1 7 institution prior to graduation. 1 8 NEW SUBSECTION. 40. Develop and implement a policy 1 9 to provide to each undergraduate student enrolled at an 1 10 institution of higher education governed by the board who 1 11 has formally declared an intention to pursue a degree from a 1 12 baccalaureate degree program a report on the employment rate 1 13 in the student's field of study one year after graduation, 1 14 percentage of graduates of the institution who completed the 1 15 program and entered a postgraduate degree program within one 1 16 year of graduation, average starting salary, and average 1 17 student debt upon graduation of graduates of the institution 1 18 who completed the program. The report shall be provided on an 1 19 annual basis and shall be based upon the most recent available 1 20 data. 1 21 NEW SUBSECTION. 41. By July 1, 2019, develop and implement 1 22 a policy requiring each institution of higher education under 1 23 its control to provide students enrolled in baccalaureate 1 24 degree programs with information necessary to facilitate the 1 25 ability of such students to complete such programs in three 1 26 academic years. 1 27 EXPLANATION 1 28 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 1 29 the explanation's substance by the members of the general assembly. 1 30 This bill directs institutions of higher education governed 1 31 by the state board of regents to require that enrolled 1 32 students who will graduate on or after July 1, 2019, complete 1 33 a one=credit=hour financial literacy course offered by the 1 34 institution prior to graduation. 1 35 The bill directs regents institutions to develop and 2 1 implement a policy to provide to each enrolled student who 2 2 has formally declared an intention to pursue a program of 2 3 study a report on an annual basis.
