S.F. 215 Section 1. Section 483A.1A, subsection 10, paragraph e, 1 Code 2019, is amended by striking the paragraph and inserting 2 in lieu thereof the following: 3 e. Is a member of the armed forces of the United States 4 who is serving on active duty and meets any of the following 5 qualifications: 6 (1) Claims residency in this state and has filed a state 7 individual income tax return as a resident pursuant to chapter 8 422, division II, for the preceding tax year. 9 (2) Is stationed at a federal military installation in this 10 state, or at a federal military installation contiguous to a 11 county in this state, and is domiciled within this state. 12 (3) Is stationed at and resides or is domiciled within a 13 federal military installation located contiguous to a county 14 in this state. 15 (4) Is the spouse of a person included in subparagraph (1), 16 (2), or (3). 17 EXPLANATION 18 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 19 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 20 This bill changes the definition of “resident” in Code 21 chapter 483A to include a member of the armed forces of 22 the United States who is stationed at a federal military 23 installation in this state, or contiguous to a county in this 24 state, and is domiciled within the state. The bill amends the 25 definition of resident to also include a member of the armed 26 forces who is stationed at and resides or is domiciled within a 27 federal military installation located contiguous to a county 28 in this state. The definition also includes the spouse of 29 a person who is a resident pursuant to Code section 483A.1A, 30 subsection 10, paragraph “e”. A resident for purposes of Code 31 chapter 483A is entitled to certain privileges related to 32 hunting, fishing, and trapping. 33 -1- LSB 1960XS (4) 88 js/rn 1/ 1
