that
is
limited
in
engine
displacement
to

less
than
one
thousand
five
hundred
cubic
centimeters
and
in

total
dry
weight
to
not
more
than
two
thousand
pounds
and
that

has
a
seat
that
is
of
bucket
or
bench
design,
not
intended
to
8
be
straddled
by
the
operator,
and
a
steering
wheel
or
control

levers
for
control.
“Off-road
utility
vehicle”
includes
the

following
vehicles:

means
an

weight
of

and
a

of

or

off-road
utility
vehicle,

a
total
dry
weight
of
two
thousand
pounds
or
less,
and
a

width
of
sixty-five
inches
or
less.

means
an
off-road

vehicle
with
a
total
dry
weight
of
more
than
two

thousand
pounds
or
a
width

This
bill
revises
the
definition
of
“off-road
utility

vehicle”
in
Code
chapter
321I,
which
provides
for
the

registration
and
regulation
of
all-terrain
and
off-road
utility

vehicles
by
the
department
of
natural
resources
and
authorizes
29
and
limits
the
use
of
those
vehicles
on
designated
riding
30
areas
and
trails.
“Off-road
utility
vehicle”
is
defined
as
a
31
motorized
vehicle
with
not
less
than
four
and
not
more
than
32
eight
nonhighway
tires
or
rubberized
tracks,
a
bucket
or
bench
33
seat,
and
a
steering
wheel
or
control
levers.
The
current

definition
of
“off-road
utility
vehicle”
includes
vehicles
with

of

The
bill
strikes

the
limitation
on
engine
size
and
establishes
three
off-road

utility
vehicle
classifications
based
on
weight
and
width
as

follows:

vehicle

1”
includes
vehicles
with

a

dry
weight
of
1,200
pounds
or
less
and
a
width
of
50

inches
or
less.

“Off-road
utility
vehicle

2”
includes
vehicles,

vehicles,
with
a

dry
weight
of
2,000

or
less
and
a
width
of

inches
or
less.
