S.F. 2088 DIVISION I 1 PHARMACY PRACTICE —— REGISTERED NURSES 2 Section 1. Section 152.1, subsection 7, Code 2022, is 3 amended by adding the following new paragraph: 4 NEW PARAGRAPH . g. Under a pharmacist’s order and consistent 5 with this subsection, assist in the administration of 6 immunizations and vaccinations and the utilization of statewide 7 protocols pursuant to section 155A.33B. 8 Sec. 2. NEW SECTION . 155A.33B Registered nurses —— 9 vaccinations and immunizations. 10 A registered nurse licensed pursuant to chapter 152 or 11 152E shall be authorized to assist in the administration of 12 immunizations and vaccinations and the utilization of statewide 13 protocols, pursuant to a pharmacist’s order and consistent with 14 the practice of the profession of a registered nurse as defined 15 in section 152.1, without obtaining a registration from the 16 board. 17 DIVISION II 18 NONRESIDENT PHARMACY LICENSES 19 Sec. 3. Section 155A.13A, subsection 1, paragraph e, Code 20 2022, is amended by striking the paragraph. 21 EXPLANATION 22 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 23 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 24 This bill relates to the practices of pharmacy and nursing 25 and the licensing of nonresident pharmacies. The bill is 26 organized in divisions. 27 DIVISION I —— PHARMACY PRACTICE —— REGISTERED NURSES. The 28 bill allows a registered nurse to practice under the order 29 of a pharmacist to assist in the administration of vaccines 30 and immunizations and the utilization of statewide protocols 31 without obtaining a registration from the board of pharmacy. 32 DIVISION II —— NONRESIDENT PHARMACY LICENSES. The bill 33 eliminates a requirement that a nonresident pharmacy provide 34 on its license application evidence of a toll-free telephone 35 -1- LSB 5222SV (1) 89 ss/rh 1/ 2
