Section 298.3, subsection 1, paragraph i, Code 1 2 2015, is amended to read as follows: 1 3 i.PurchaseThe purchase of transportation equipment for 1 4 transporting students and the repair of such transportation 1 5 equipment. For the purposes of this paragraph, "repair" 1 6 means restoring an existing item of equipment to its original 1 7 condition, as near as may be, after gradual obsolescence or 1 8 physical and functional depreciation due to wear and tear, 1 9 corrosion and decay, or partial destruction, and includes 1 10 maintenance of an item of equipment. 1 11 Sec. 2. APPLICABILITY. This Act applies to school budget 1 12 years beginning on or after July 1, 2016. 1 13 EXPLANATION 1 14 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 1 15 the explanation's substance by the members of the general assembly. 1 16 Current Code section 298.3 authorizes revenues from the 1 17 regular and voter=approved physical plant and equipment 1 18 levies to be used for the purchase of transportation equipment 1 19 for transporting students. This bill authorizes a school 1 20 district to use revenues from such levies for the repair of 1 21 transportation equipment for transporting students. The bill 1 22 defines "repair". 1 23 The bill applies to budget years beginning on or after July 1 24 1, 2016. LSB 2253XS (2) 86 md/sc
