TERMINATION OF MEDICAID MANAGED CARE CONTRACTS 1 2 RELATIVE TO LONG=TERM SERVICES AND SUPPORTS POPULATION ==== 1 3 TRANSITION TO FEE=FOR=SERVICE. The department of human 1 4 services shall, upon the effective date of this Act, provide 1 5 written notice in accordance with the termination provisions 1 6 of the contract, to each managed care organization with whom 1 7 the department executed a contract to administer the Iowa 1 8 high quality health care initiative as established by the 1 9 department, to terminate such contracts as applicable to 1 10 the Medicaid long=term services and supports population, 1 11 following a sixty=day transition period. The department shall 1 12 transfer the long=term services and supports population to 1 13 fee=for=service program administration. The transition shall 1 14 be based on a transition plan developed by the department and 1 15 submitted to the council on human services and the medical 1 16 assistance advisory council for review. The department of 1 17 human services shall seek any Medicaid state plan or waiver 1 18 amendments necessary to complete the transition. 1 19 Sec. 2. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Act, being deemed of immediate 1 20 importance, takes effect upon enactment. 1 21 EXPLANATION 1 22 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 1 23 the explanation's substance by the members of the general assembly. 1 24 This bill directs the department of human services (DHS) 1 25 to provide written notice in accordance with the termination 1 26 provisions of the contract, to each managed care organization 1 27 with whom DHS executed a contract to administer the Iowa 1 28 high quality health care initiative as established by the 1 29 department, to terminate such contracts as applicable to the 1 30 long=term services and supports population, following a 60=day 1 31 transition period. DHS is directed to transfer the long=term 1 32 services and supports population to fee=for=service program 1 33 administration. The transition is to be based on a transition 1 34 plan developed by the department and submitted to the council 1 35 on human services and the medical assistance advisory council 2 1 for review.
