Section
1.
Section
321.189,
subsection
8,
Code
2016,
is
1
amended
to
read
as
follows:

8.
Veterans
status.
A
licensee
who
is
an
honorably
3
discharged
veteran
of
the
armed
forces
of
the
United
States
may
4
request
that
the
license
be
marked
to
reflect
the
licensee’s
5
veteran
status.
Upon
such
a
request,
the
word
“VETERAN”
shall
6
be
marked
prominently
on
the
face
of
the
license.
Such
a
7
license
shall
be
issued
only
upon
receipt
of
satisfactory
proof
8
of
veteran
status
pursuant
to
procedures
established
by
the
9
department
in
consultation
with
the
department
of
veterans
10
affairs.
For
purposes
of
this
subsection,
an
honorably
11
discharged
veteran
of
the
armed
forces
of
the
United
States
12
includes
an
honorably
discharged
former
member
of
the
reserve
13
forces
of
the
United
States
who
served
at
least
four
years
in
14
the
reserve
forces
and
an
honorably
discharged
former
member
of
15
the
Iowa
national
guard
who
served
at
least
four
years
in
the
16
Iowa
national
guard.

explanation
does

constitute
agreement
with

the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
provides
that
an
honorably
discharged
former
21
member
of
the
reserve
forces
of
the
United
States
or
of
the
22
Iowa
national
guard
who
served
at
least
four
years
in
the
23
reserve
forces
or
Iowa
national
guard
is
eligible
to
receive
a
24
veterans
designation
on
the
person’s
driver’s
license.
