honoring

Sharron

Trimmer.

WHEREAS,
Sharron
Trimmer
is
an
Iowa
native
with
a
3
big
heart
and
a
love
of
music;
and
4
WHEREAS,
when
Ms.
Trimmer
was
younger,
she
gave
5
several
vocal
performances,
won
her
first
singing
award
6
at
age
twelve
in
a
talent
show
in
Omaha,
Nebraska,
won
7
a
Miss
Southwest
Iowa
competition,
and
even
befriended
8
the
Everly
Brothers
who
attended
her
junior
high
9
school;
and
10
WHEREAS,
in
Ms.
Trimmer’s
sophomore
year
of
high
11
school,
she
entered
the
weekly
Teen
Talent
contest
12
at
KFNF
Henry
Fields
radio
station
where
she
won
the
13
contest
every
Saturday
for
two
months;
and
14
WHEREAS,
KFNF
radio
was
so
impressed
with
Ms.
15
Trimmer,
they
asked
her
to
host
the
Teen
Talent
show,
16
which
she
did
for
two
and
one-half
years,
allowing
her
17
to
meet
and
become
lifelong
friends
with
Pat
Boone;
and
18
WHEREAS,
in
1964,
Ms.
Trimmer
gave
birth
to
a
19
daughter,
Cindy
Suzette,
who
Mr.
Boone
described
as
20
having
the
voice
and
personality
of
an
angel.
Inspired
21
by
Mr.
Boone’s
words,
Ms.
Trimmer
changed
Cindy’s
name
22
to
Angelina
L’Amour,
or
simply
“Angel”;
and
23
WHEREAS,
many
years
later,
Angel
was
diagnosed
with
24
cancer,
and
her
prognosis
was
poor.
After
having
been
25
resuscitated
once,
Angel
woke
up
and
told
Ms.
Trimmer
26
that
she
had
met
an
angel
who
told
her
to
advocate
for
27
and
take
care
of
people
suffering
from
cancer,
and
she

asked
her
mother
to
help
her
with
this
request;
and
1
WHEREAS,
Angel
passed
away
from
cancer
on
July
2
1,
2016,
and
Ms.
Trimmer
was
diagnosed
with
ovarian
3
cancer
two
months
later.
Despite
the
diagnosis,
Ms.
4
Trimmer
worked
tirelessly
for
her
daughter’s
cause
to
5
provide
services,
kindness,
and
much
needed
quality
of
6
life
improvements
for
those
suffering
from
cancer
by
7
advocating
and
reaching
out
to
patients,
hospitals,
8
doctors,
nurses,
and
people
providing
services
to
9
people
with
cancer;
NOW
THEREFORE,
10
BE
IT
RESOLVED
BY
THE
HOUSE
OF
REPRESENTATIVES,
That
11
the
House
of
Representatives
honors
the
efforts
Ms.
12
Trimmer
has
made
in
her
advocacy
and
service
to
people
13
suffering
from
cancer;
and
14
BE
IT
FURTHER
RESOLVED,
That
the
House
of
15
Representatives
recognizes
Ms.
Trimmer’s
message
to
16
care
for
one
another
and
work
together
with
a
“big
17
heart”
as
a
message
that
is
emblematic
of
our
state
18
principles
and
one
that
every
Iowan
must
carry
with
19
them;
and
20
BE
IT
FURTHER
RESOLVED,
That
upon
passage
of
21
this
resolution,
the
Chief
Clerk
of
the
House
of
22
Representatives
shall
transmit
a
copy
of
this
23
resolution
to
Ms.
Sharron
Trimmer.
