H.F. 516 Section 1. Section 34A.3, subsection 1, paragraph a, Code 1 2019, is amended by adding the following new subparagraph: 2 NEW SUBPARAGRAPH . (3) The sheriff of each county, or the 3 sheriff’s designee, is entitled to voting membership on the 4 joint 911 service board. 5 EXPLANATION 6 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 7 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 8 Current law requires the board of supervisors of each county 9 to establish a joint 911 service board for the purpose of 10 maintaining a countywide 911 service plan. Each political 11 subdivision having a public safety agency serving territory 12 within the county, and each local emergency management agency 13 operating within the county, is entitled to voting membership 14 on the board. 15 This bill provides that the sheriff of each county, or the 16 sheriff’s designee, is also entitled to voting membership on a 17 joint 911 service board. 18 -1- LSB 2333HV (1) 88 gh/rn 1/ 1
