H.F. 474 Section 1. OFFICE OF LONG-TERM CARE OMBUDSMAN —— 1 APPROPRIATION. 2 1. There is appropriated from the general fund of the 3 state to the office of long-term care ombudsman for the fiscal 4 year beginning July 1, 2021, and ending June 30, 2022, in 5 addition to any other funds appropriated from the general 6 fund of the state to, and in addition to any other full-time 7 equivalent positions authorized for, the office of long-term 8 care ombudsman, the following amount, or so much thereof as is 9 necessary, to be used for the purposes designated: 10 To increase the number of local long-term care ombudsmen 11 including for salaries, support, administration, maintenance, 12 and miscellaneous purposes: 13 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $ 300,000 14 2. The funding appropriated in this section is in addition 15 to any other funds appropriated from the general fund of the 16 state and any other full-time equivalent positions authorized 17 for local long-term care ombudsmen during the same fiscal 18 year. The funding shall be used to support local long-term 19 care ombudsmen in fulfilling their duties pursuant to section 20 231.42 including to provide the resources necessary to complete 21 site visits and to carry out other duties utilizing the most 22 efficient means available considering any existing public 23 health concerns to protect and improve the health, safety, 24 welfare, and rights of residents and tenants. 25 EXPLANATION 26 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 27 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 28 This bill appropriates funds from the general fund of the 29 state to the office of long-term care ombudsman for fiscal 30 year 2021-2022 to the office of long-term care ombudsman to be 31 used to increase the number of local long-term care ombudsmen. 32 The funding appropriated is in addition to any other funds 33 appropriated from the general fund of the state and any other 34 full-time equivalent positions authorized for local long-term 35 -1- LSB 2411YH (3) 89 pf/rh 1/ 2
