Section
279.50,
subsections
3
and
5,
Code
2019,

are
amended
to
read
as
follows:

Each
school
board
shall
annually
provide
to
a
parent

or
guardian
of
any
pupil
enrolled
in
the
school
district,

information
all
of
the
following:

a.
Information
about
the
human
growth
and
development
6
curriculum
used
in
the
pupil’s
grade
level
and
the
.
7
b.
The
procedure
for
inspecting
the
human
growth
and
8
development
course
instructional
materials
prior
to
their
use
9
in
the
classroom.

c.
Information
about
human
growth
and
development
that
may
11
be
provided
to
pupils
at
an
educational
conference
or
seminar
12
for
which
the
school
district
facilitates
pupil
attendance.

d.
Information
regarding
the
requirements
for
consent
14
described
in
subsection
5.

5.
A
school
district
shall
not
enroll
a
pupil
shall
not
be

required
to
take
in
a
course
of
instruction
in
human
growth

and
development
if
or
facilitate
a
pupil’s
attendance
at
an

educational
conference
or
seminar
that
provides
information

about
human
growth
and
development
unless
the
pupil’s
parent
or

guardian
files
with
the
appropriate
principal
a
written
request

that
the
pupil
be
excused
from
the
instruction
informed
consent

acknowledging
receipt
of
the
information
required
in
subsection
23
3
.
Notification
that
the
written
request
may
be
made
shall
be
24
included
in
the
information
provided
by
the
school
district.

EXPLANATION

The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with
27
the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
prohibits
a
school
district
from
enrolling
a
pupil
29
in
a
course
of
instruction
in
human
growth
and
development,
30
and
from
facilitating
a
pupil’s
attendance
at
an
educational
31
conference
or
seminar
that
includes
information
on
human
growth
32
and
development,
unless
the
pupil’s
parent
or
guardian
files
33
written
informed
consent
with
the
appropriate
principal.
The

bill
also
requires
the
board
of
directors
of
a
school
district
