Section
715A.1,
Code
2022,
is
amended
by
adding

the
following
new
subsection:

“Movie
prop
money”
means
a
product

produced
by
a
company
or
corporation
to
represent
authentic

money
for
use
by
filmmakers,
directors,
or
photographers
for

use
in
film
or
theatrical
productions
or
in
print
media.

A
person
who,
with
the
intent
to
defraud
or
injure
anyone,

utters
movie
prop
money
for
the
purpose
of
obtaining
property

or
services,
commits
the
following:

services
exceeding
ten
thousand
dollars

in
value,
a
class
“C”
felony.

2.
For
property
or
services
exceeding
one
thousand
five
13
hundred
dollars
in
value
but
not
exceeding
ten
thousand
dollars
14
in
value,
a
class
“D”
felony.

3.
For
property
or
services
exceeding
seven
hundred
fifty
16
dollars
in
value
but
not
exceeding
one
thousand
five
hundred
17
dollars
in
value,
an
aggravated
misdemeanor.

For
property
or
services
exceeding
three

bill
relates

forgery
involving
movie
prop
money,
and

penalties.

The
bill
provides
that
a
person
who,
with
the
intent

to
defraud
or
injure
anyone,
utters
movie
prop
money
for

the
purpose
of
obtaining
property
or
services
commits
the

following:
for
property
or
services
exceeding
$10,000
in

value,
a
class
“C”
felony;
for
property
or
services
exceeding

$1,500
in
value
but
not
exceeding
$10,000,
a
class
“D”
felony;

for
property
or
services
exceeding
$750
in
value
but
not

bill
defines
“movie
prop
money”
as
a
product
produced
by

or
corporation
to
represent

money
for

class
“C”
felony
is
punishable
by
confinement
for
no
more
9
than
10
years
and
a
fine
of
at
least
$1,370
but
not
more
than
10
$13,660.
A
class
“D”
felony
is
punishable
by
confinement
for
11
no
more
than
five
years
and
a
fine
of
at
least
$1,025
but
not
12
more
than
$10,245.
An
aggravated
misdemeanor
is
punishable
13
by
confinement
for
no
more
than
two
years
and
a
fine
of
at
14
least
$855
but
not
more
than
$8,540.
A
serious
misdemeanor
15
is
punishable
by
confinement
for
no
more
than
one
year
and

a
fine
of

least
$430
but

A
simple

misdemeanor
