Paid
leave
for
birth
or
1
adoption
of
a
child.

The
department
shall
establish,
by
rule,
that
a
state

employee
entitled
to
leave
under
the
federal
Family
and
Medical
4
Leave
Act
of
1993
shall
be
provided
paid
leave
for
up
to
eight
5
weeks
for
the
birth
or
placement
for
adoption
with
the
employee
6
of
a
child
if
the
leave
is
taken
within
twelve
months
following
7
any
such
birth
or
adoption.

EXPLANATION

The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with
10
the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
provides
that
the
department
of
administrative
12
services
shall
establish,
by
rule,
that
a
state
employee
13
entitled
to
leave
under
the
federal
Family
and
Medical
Leave
14
Act
of
1993
shall
be
provided
paid
leave
for
up
to
eight
weeks
15
for
the
birth
or
adoption
of
a
child
if
the
leave
is
taken
16
within
12
months
following
any
such
birth
or
adoption.
