H.F. 2224 Section 1. Section 8.57, subsection 6, Code 2020, is amended 1 by adding the following new paragraphs: 2 NEW PARAGRAPH . f. For the fiscal year beginning July 1, 3 2020, any unobligated and unencumbered moneys in the sports 4 wagering receipts fund from the previous fiscal year are 5 appropriated to the emergency medical services fund created in 6 section 135.25. 7 NEW PARAGRAPH . g. This subsection is repealed June 30, 8 2021. 9 Sec. 2. Section 99E.6, subsection 2, Code 2020, is amended 10 to read as follows: 11 2. The taxes imposed by this section for internet fantasy 12 sports contests authorized under this chapter shall be paid by 13 the internet fantasy sports contest service provider to the 14 treasurer of state as determined by the commission and shall be 15 credited as provided in section 8.57, subsection 6 deposited in 16 the emergency medical services fund created in section 135.25 . 17 Sec. 3. Section 99F.11, subsection 4, paragraph b, Code 18 2020, is amended to read as follows: 19 b. The taxes imposed by this subsection for sports wagering 20 authorized under this chapter shall be paid by the licensed 21 operator to the treasurer of state as determined by the 22 commission and shall be credited as provided in section 8.57, 23 subsection 6 deposited in the emergency medical services fund 24 created in section 135.25 . 25 EXPLANATION 26 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 27 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 28 This bill provides that taxes imposed and collected for 29 internet fantasy sports contests and sports wagering shall be 30 deposited in the emergency medical services fund created in 31 Code section 135.25 and not the sports wagering receipts fund. 32 The bill provides that for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 33 2020, any unobligated and unencumbered moneys in the sports 34 wagering receipts fund from the previous fiscal year shall be 35 -1- LSB 5242HV (2) 88 ec/rn 1/ 2
