H.F. 2197 Section 1. Section 280.13C, subsection 2, paragraph e, Code 1 2022, is amended to read as follows: 2 e. “Licensed health care provider” means a physician, 3 physician assistant, chiropractor, advanced registered 4 nurse practitioner, nurse, physical therapist, occupational 5 therapist, person who holds a doctorate in psychology 6 with specialty training in neuropsychology and concussion 7 management, or athletic trainer licensed by a board designated 8 under section 147.13 . 9 EXPLANATION 10 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 11 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 12 This bill adds persons who hold a doctorate in psychology 13 with specialty training in neuropsychology and concussion 14 management to the definition of “licensed health care provider” 15 for the purposes of state law regarding concussion and brain 16 injury policies for extracurricular interscholastic activities. 17 Duties of such licensed health care providers include but are 18 not limited to making determinations regarding removal of 19 students from participation in such activities and their return 20 to participation. 21 -1- LSB 5073HV (2) 89 dg/jh 1/ 1
