Section
29C.17,
subsection
2,

Code
2022,
is
amended
to
read
as
follows:

For
purposes
consistent
with
this
chapter
,
the
local

emergency
management
agency’s
approved
budget
shall
be
4
funded
by
one
or
any
combination
of
the
following
options,
as
5
determined
by
the
commission
and
the
board
of
supervisors
shall
6
have
the
option
to
either
approve
or
reject
the
budget
without
7
amendment
:

Sec.
2.
APPLICABILITY.
This
Act
applies
to
local
emergency
9
management
agency
budgets
for
fiscal
years
beginning
on
or
10
after
July
1,
2023.

EXPLANATION

The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with
13
the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
relates
to
approval
of
budgets
of
local
emergency
15
management
agencies.
Code
section
29C.17(2)
specifies
the
16
methods
and
sources
for
funding
a
local
emergency
management
17
agency
and
provides
that
such
methods
and
sources
are
18
determined
by
the
local
emergency
management
commission.
The
19
bill
gives
the
board
of
supervisors
the
option
to
approve
or
20
reject
the
agency’s
budget
without
amendment.
21
The
bill
applies
to
local
emergency
management
agency
22
budgets
for
fiscal
years
beginning
on
or
after
July
1,
2023.
