A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

RELATING TO THE DEPARTMENT OF LABOR AND INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $2,565,469 or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2019-2020 and the sum of $1,772,998 or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2020-2021 for the disability compensation division modernization project.

     The sums appropriated shall be expended by the department of labor and industrial relations for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 2.  There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $225,000 or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2019-2020 and the same sum or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2020-2021 for independent verification and validation of the disability compensation division modernization project.

     The sums appropriated shall be expended by the department of labor and industrial relations for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 3.  There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $2,000,000 or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2019-2020 and the same sum or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2020-2021 for the unemployment insurance modernization project.

     The sums appropriated shall be expended by the department of labor and industrial relations for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 4.  There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $35,299 or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2019-2020 and the sum of $60,357 or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2020-2021 to carry out the purposes of this Act, including the hiring of one full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) permanent disability compensation program specialist II.

     The sums appropriated shall be expended by the department of labor and industrial relations for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 5.  There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $         or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2020-2021 for operating costs incurred in the administration of chapter 383, Hawaii Revised Statutes.

     The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of labor and industrial relations for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 6.  There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $42,500 or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2019-2020 and the sum of $85,000 or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2020-2021 to carry out the purposes of this Act, including the hiring of one full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) permanent staff attorney, without regards to chapters 76 and 89, Hawaii Revised Statutes, for the labor and industrial relations appeals board.

     The sums appropriated shall be expended by the department of labor and industrial relations for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 7.  There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $         or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2019-2020 and the sum of $         or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2020-2021 to carry out the purposes of this Act, including the hiring of      full-time equivalent (     FTE) permanent labor law enforcement specialist IV for the wage standards division.

     The sums appropriated shall be expended by the department of labor and industrial relations for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 8.  This Act shall take effect on January 1, 2050.
