A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating to capital improvement projects for the benefit of the twenty-second senatorial district.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
1. Nanakuli High and Intermediate School
A. Design, construction, and equipment for the expansion of the Nanakuli performing arts center auditorium.
Design $2,500,000
Construction $26,500,000
Equipment $1,000,000
Total funding $30,000,000
2. Waianae Intermediate School
A. Covered play court on campus.
Total funding $2,500,000
3. Department of Health
A. Emergency food warehouse to be included with the food and social services campus at the Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center Elepaio Social Services program.
Total funding $2,500,000
4. Department of Agriculture
A. Clearing of arable land for food production at MAʻO Organic Farms.
Total funding $200,000
5. Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center
A. Fire mitigation initiative to build additional fire breaks, extend water lines, and provide additional fire suppression equipment to enhance resilience of facilities.
Total funding $1,000,000
6. Department of Land and Natural Resources
A. Construction for fire-fighting dipping wells in each of the major valleys along the Waianae coast.
Total funding $1,000,000
SECTION 2. The appropriation made for the capital improvement project authorized by this Act shall not lapse at the end of the fiscal biennium for which the appropriation is made; provided that all moneys from the appropriation unencumbered as of June 30, 2026, shall lapse as of that date.
SECTION 3. The sums appropriated for the respective capital improvement projects set forth in section 1 shall be expended for the purposes of this Act as follows:
(1) The sums appropriated in items 1 and 2 shall be expended by the department of education;
(2) The sums appropriated in item 3 shall be expended by the department of health;
(3) The sums appropriated in item 4 shall be expended by the department of agriculture; and
(4) The sum appropriated in items 5 and 6 shall be expended by the department of land and natural resources.
SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2024.
