A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to education.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 

     SECTION 1.  Chapter 302A, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to part I, subpart B, to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

     "§302A-     Arts education; curricula plan.  The department shall:

     (1)  Develop and implement a statewide arts education curricula plan for public school students in kindergarten through grade twelve;

     (2)  Beginning with the 2021-2022 school year, ensure that each public high school offers at least one art course during each school year."

     SECTION 2.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
