HOUSE RESOLUTION

 

 

recognizing the united STATEs small business administration's state of HAWAII 2011 awardees.

 

 

 


     WHEREAS, it is recognized that Small Businesses are critical to the United State's economic recovery and strength, overall future, and ability to compete in today's global marketplace; and every year since 1963, the president has proclaimed National Small Business Week to recognize the contributions of small business, and for this year, the Small Business Association announced the Hawaii winners of the prestigious 2011 Small Business Awards; and

 

     WHEREAS, the Hawaii House of Representatives joins the business community in recognizing the noteworthy contributions and outstanding business achievements of the United States Small Business Administration's State of Hawaii 2011 awardees; and

 

     WHEREAS, JUDY N. BISHOP of Bishop & Company, Inc., is the United States Small Business Administration's 2011 Women In Business Champion for being a highly successful role model and entrepreneur in championing women's business ownership through her work with local, national, and international corporations on four continents, and trains and consults with various local organizations; and

 

     WHEREAS, BRIAN BOWERS of Bowers & Kubota Consulting, Inc., is the United States Small Business Administration's 2011 Small Business Person of the Year for the State of Hawaii for having developed Bowers & Kubota Consulting, Inc., into a profitable company providing diversified services to both public and private sector clients in Hawaii and the Pacific Rim; and

 

    


 

     WHEREAS, HENRY L. CASHEN of Soldier and Family Assistance Center, United States Army, was recognized as the United States Small Business Administration's State of Hawaii 2011 Veteran Small Business Champion, which is a prestigious award that honors individuals who have fulfilled a commitment to advancing small business opportunities for veterans of the United States Armed Forces; and

 

     WHEREAS, EDDIE FLORES of L&L Drive Inn and L&L Hawaii Barbeque has been selected as the recipient of the United States Small Business Administration's State of Hawaii 2011 Minority Small Business Champion of the Year Award for generously spending his time and personal resources to help minorities and disadvantaged entrepreneurs through programs, scholarships, and the development of two community centers focused on economic opportunities; and

 

     WHEREAS, ROBERT M. FUJIMOTO is the recipient of the United States Small Business Administration State of Hawaii 2011 Entrepreneurial Success Awardee in recognition of his leadership of HPM Building Supply, Ltd., and as an outstanding community leader, creating an inspiring legacy of excellence and generosity; and

 

     WHEREAS, PATRICK R. GARCIA has been named the United States Small Business Administration's State of Hawaii 2011 Financial Services Champion, a prestigious award that honors individuals who assist small businesses through advocacy efforts to increase the usefulness and availability of accounting or financial services; and

 

     WHEREAS, DAVID KANE of Trex Hawaii-Advanced Materials Group has been awarded the United States Small Business Administration's State of Hawaii 2011 Tibbetts Award For Innovation and Research, a prestigious distinction that honors outstanding small businesses and individuals who participate in the Administration's Small Business Innovation Research Program; and

 


 

     WHEREAS, DEXTER KUBOTA of Bowers & Kubota Consulting, Inc., is the United States Small Business Administration's 2011 Small Business Person of the Year for demonstrating outstanding skills, savvy, and the ability to be successful in the small business community, crate jobs, demonstrate "staying-power", foster innovation in products or services, and increase annual revenues; and

    

     WHEREAS, ROGER LANE of Roger Lane, Inc., is the United States Small Business Administration's 2011 Home Based Business Champion for the State of Hawaii for having worked to improve the climate of home-based businesses, helping businesses and individuals improve their performance by providing the skills, tools, and processes that enable businesses and entrepreneurs to increase productivity, sales volume, and profits; and

 

     WHEREAS, ALAN OKAMI of KoAloha, Inc., doing business as KoAloha Ukulele, is a recipient of the United States Small Business Administration's State of Hawaii 2011 Family-Owned Small Business Award for having had expanded his client base, build international business relationships, and increased and diversified revenues to build a profitable million-dollar firm that has averaged a 16 percent growth over the past three years, thriving on core values of high quality, strong relationships, and community involvement; and

 

     WHEREAS, JOSEPH ROSSI of Maui Babe, Inc., is the United States Small Business Administration's State of Hawaii 2011 Small Business Exporter, a prestigious award that honors individuals who own and operate a small business engaged in exporting products or services outside of the United States; and

 

     WHEREAS, DANIEL T. WRIGHT has been recognized as the United States Small Business Administration's State of Hawaii 2011 Young Entrepreneur of the Year, a prestigious award that acknowledges the top performance and contributions of the best small business owners and entrepreneurs; now, therefore,

 

    


 

     BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-sixth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2011, that this body hereby congratulates and recognizes the United States Small Business Administration's 2011 State of Hawaii Small Business Awardees and extends to them its warmest aloha and sincere best wishes for continued success in all their future endeavors.
