HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

H.C.R. NO.

190

THIRTIETH LEGISLATURE, 2019

STATE OF HAWAII

HOUSE CONCURRENT

RESOLUTION

requesting the department of accounting and general services to investigate the coexistence of jalousie windows and air conditioning in state buildings and consider more energy efficient alternatives.

WHEREAS, many facilities owned by the State have installed air conditioning units after the facility's initial construction; and

WHEREAS, some of these facilities still have jalousie windows between the air conditioned spaces and the outdoor environment; and

WHEREAS, jalousie windows allow the conditioned air to escape the building, thus increasing the expense of providing air conditioning to the indoor environment; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Thirtieth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2019, the Senate concurring, that the Department of Accounting and General Services is requested to investigate the coexistence of jalousie windows and air conditioning in state buildings and consider more energy efficient alternatives, such as replacing the jalousie windows with sealed windows; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified copies of this Concurrent Resolution be transmitted to the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Comptroller, and Administrator of the Central Services Division of the Department of Accounting and General Services.
