A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to unemployment benefits.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  The department of taxation shall retroactively exempt and refund state income tax amounts received or withheld from individuals for unemployment compensation benefits, pursuant to section 383-163.6, Hawaii Revised Statutes, from March 1, 2020, to December 31, 2020.

     SECTION 2.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
