A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating to capital improvement projects for the benefit of THE Thirty-ninth REPRESENTATIVE DISTRICT.
BE IT
ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. The director of finance is authorized to issue general obligation bonds in the sum of $139,995,500 or so much thereof as may be necessary and the same sum or so much thereof as may be necessary is appropriated for fiscal year 2022-2023 for the purpose of capital improvement projects for the thirty-ninth representative district, as follows:
Design and construction for the athletic facilities project; ground and site improvements; equipment and appurtenances.
Design $1,000,000
Construction $21,583,000
Total funding $22,583,000
The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.
2. Honowai elementary school
Design and construction for covered walkways connecting buildings to the cafeteria.
Design $50,000
Construction $1,450,000
Total funding $1,500,000
The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.
3. Ilima intermediate school
Design and construction for a new sixth grade building; ground and site improvements; equipment and appurtenances.
Design $2,000,000
Construction $33,000,000
Total funding $35,000,000
The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.
4. Kaleiopuu elementary school
Construction for the repaving of fire lanes areas one and two; ground and site improvements; equipment and appurtenances.
Construction $875,000
Total funding $875,000
The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.
5. Kapolei high school
Design and construction for a new classroom building.
Design $3,000,000
Construction $37,000,000
Total funding $40,000,000
The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.
6. Waipahu high school
Construction for a multi-purpose athletic court improvement project.
Construction $1,000,000
Total funding $1,000,000
The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.
7. Waipahu high school
Construction for phase 2 of campus painting project.
Construction $600,000
Total funding $600,000
The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.
8. Waipahu high school
Construction for replacement of broken gym bleachers.
Construction $2,000,000
Total funding $2,000,000
The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.
9. Waipahu high school
Design and construction for campus rekeying project - rekeying of all exterior locks on campus.
Design $93,750
Construction $343,750
Total funding $437,500
The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.
10. Waipahu intermediate school
Design and construction for completion of the DREAMS building; ground and site improvements; equipment and appurtenances.
Design $504,000
Construction $35,496,000
Total funding $36,000,000
The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.
SECTION 2. The appropriation made for the capital improvement projects authorized by this Act shall not lapse at the end of the fiscal year for which the appropriation is made; provided that all moneys from the appropriation unencumbered as of June 30, 2024, shall lapse as of that date.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2022.
