A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

RELATING TO HIGH OCCUPANCY VEHICLES.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  By January 1, 2015, the department of transportation shall establish and administer a one year demonstration pilot project to designate a portion of the Pali highway (state highway 61) from the intersection of state highways 61 and 83 to the intersection of state highway 61 and Nuuanu Pali drive as high occupancy vehicle lanes, as defined under section 291C-221, Hawaii Revised Statutes, during rush hours, as determined by the department.

     SECTION 2.  The department of transportation shall submit a report to the legislature, no later than twenty days prior to the convening of the regular session of 2017, regarding the demonstration pilot project and make findings and recommendations, including whether to continue the pilot project.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
