A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to capital improvement projects for the benefit of THE Twenty-seventh REPRESENTATIVE DISTRICT.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  The director of finance is authorized to issue general obligation bonds in the sum of $2,495,000 or so much thereof as may be necessary and the same sum or so much thereof as may be necessary is appropriated for fiscal year 2022-2023 for the purpose of capital improvement projects for the twenty-seventh representative district, as follows:

1.   Kauluwela elementary school

     Plans, design, construction, and equipment for repainting the exterior of all buildings.

     Plans                            $5,000

     Design                           $5,000

     Construction                   $150,000

     Equipment                        $5,000

          Total funding                       $165,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

2.   Kauluwela elementary school

     Plans, land, design, construction, and equipment for removal of a large monkeypod tree that is uprooting the main walkway.

     Plans                            $5,000

     Land                             $5,000

     Design                           $5,000

     Construction                    $15,000

     Equipment                        $5,000

          Total funding                        $35,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

3.   Kauluwela elementary school

     Plans, land, design, construction, and equipment for a new multipurpose cafeteria and kitchen in the location of a recently demolished building.

     Plans                           $50,000

     Land                            $25,000

     Design                         $100,000

     Construction                 $1,500,000

     Equipment                      $500,000

          Total funding                     $2,175,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

4.   Lanakila elementary school

     Design and construction for paving and covering the outdoor eating area and waiting area for student pickup between the cafeteria and the driveway.

     Design                          $20,000

     Construction                   $100,000

          Total funding                       $120,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

     SECTION 2.  The appropriation made for the capital improvement projects authorized by this Act shall not lapse at the end of the fiscal year for which the appropriation is made; provided that all moneys from the appropriation unencumbered as of June 30, 2024, shall lapse as of that date.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2022.
