A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to medical loss ratios.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  Chapter 346, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

     "§346-     Managed care organization; medical loss ratio.  Beginning on January 1, 2022, each managed care organization shall annually report its medical loss ratio to the department.

     As used in this section, "medical loss ratio" means the proportion of premium revenues spent on clinical services and quality improvement."

     SECTION 2.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
