Summary
Extends the physician workforce assessment fee and disbursements of the fees collected until June 30, 2017. Requires no less than fifty per cent of the assessment fees be deposited into the John A. Burns school of medicine special fund to support physician workforce assessment and planning efforts, including recruitment and retention of physicians, especially those serving rural and medically underserved areas of the State, and raises the expenditure ceiling of the special fund from $150,000 annually to $245,000 annually (sunsets June 30, 2017). Requires the University of Hawaii at Manoa to report annually to the legislature, the state health planning and development agency, and the Hawaii medical board. Effective June 29, 2012. (CD1)
