A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending Stevens Creek Elementary School for being named one of the 2011 Georgia Schools of Excellence; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, to be considered for the Georgia Schools of Excellence Award, a school must make meet or exceed state mean scores in reading and math, score the highest on assessments, and show the most improvement during a three-year period; and

WHEREAS, the program identifies two winning schools from each congressional district in Georgia, one for the greatest gains criteria and another for schools in the state's top 10 percent; and

WHEREAS, Stevens Creek Elementary School was chosen as a Top 10 school in their congressional district; and

WHEREAS, the State of Georgia takes great pride in the diligent study and preparation taken by the students of Stevens Creek Elementary School and looks forward in anticipation to the great achievements this school will accomplish in the future.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend Stevens Creek Elementary School for being named one of the 2011 Georgia Schools of Excellence and recognize the outstanding contributions of the students and staff in making their school excellent.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Stevens Creek Elementary School.
