RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Reverend Jimmy Elder; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Reverend Jimmy Elder is a graduate of Mercer University and a member of its
board of trustees; and
WHEREAS,
he is the pastor of the First Baptist Church of Columbus, Georgia;
and
WHEREAS,
Reverend Elder demonstrates a commitment to teaching the Gospel, witnessing
Christ through word and deed and addressing the physical, psychological,
intellectual, and spiritual needs of others; and
WHEREAS,
the unmatched spiritual assistance offered by Reverend Elder has been a source
of strength, inspiration, and direction for persons in all walks of life and
from all economic strata, and he continues to serve as an inspiration to
countless Georgians and Americans each day with his acts of kindness and
compassion; and
WHEREAS,
Reverend Elder's leadership was instrumental in bringing together St. Francis
Hospital, Mercer University, and The Medical Center of Columbus Regional
Healthcare System to create a new medical education partnership;
and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that this enduring example of God's message
of peace and love be recognized and congratulated for his innumerable good works
rendered on behalf of persons in need.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize
Reverend Jimmy Elder for his exemplary fellowship and leadership in the name of
God.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Reverend Jimmy Elder.
