A
RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the life of Imani Thompson Twine and expressing regret at her
passing; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Imani Thompson Twine was an outstanding young woman who represented the best of
youth in her community; and
WHEREAS,
Imani departed this life in 2010 while honorably serving DeKalb County in 2010
as an Ambassador to the Georgia Governor's Honors Program with a discipline in
dance; and
WHEREAS,
as a student leader at Decatur High School, she was elected senior class
treasurer, inducted into the National Honor Society, and was a member of the
Future Business Leaders of America, Fellowship of Christian Students, and Key
Club; and
WHEREAS,
she was a talented and dedicated dance student who performed in many amateur and
professional productions in schools, churches, and venues throughout metro
Atlanta and was honored as Dancer of the Year in 2010 at Ballethnic Dance
Academy; and
WHEREAS,
she was a faithful member of Greater Traveler's Rest Baptist Church and served
in the youth ministry and youth liturgical dance ministry; and
WHEREAS,
her warm spirit, grace, wisdom, and maturity beyond her years touched and
inspired many throughout metro Atlanta and the State of Georgia;
and
WHEREAS,
her spirit will live on through the lives that she inspired, and it is fitting
that this talented, dynamic, and intelligent young woman be honored for her
contributions to her school, community, and state.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join in
honoring the life and memory of Imani Thompson Twine and express their deepest
and most sincere regret at her passing.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of Imani
Thompson Twine.
