A RESOLUTION


Commending the Leadership Clayton Class of 2010-2011; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Leadership Clayton, a program of the Clayton County Chamber of Commerce, provides an invaluable learning experience for the existing and emerging business and community leaders of Clayton County; and

WHEREAS, the program is guided by an advisory board made up of Leadership Clayton alumni who dedicate their time and energy to improving the quality of the program; and

WHEREAS, participants include a cross section of persons working or residing in Clayton County who have exhibited a promising degree of community involvement, leadership potential, and professional achievement; and

WHEREAS, by providing a rigorous and innovative program of training, Leadership Clayton is building a stronger and better community by preparing tomorrow's leaders to meet the challenges of the 21st century; and

WHEREAS, the program's participants are enriched by the relationships they form with each other, as well as by the knowledge and understanding they gain from experts on such topics as quality of life, education, local economics, cultural diversity, local and state government, medical services, the judicial system, volunteer opportunities, and leadership skills; and

WHEREAS, the 2010-2011 Leadership Clayton class includes Jenell Ali, Deborah Collins, Scherita Elam Cowens, Arnell Footman, Keith Gammage, Bess Garrett, Tavan Jones, Tangela Martin, Charlene McCracken, Sena McEachin, Tamika McLester, Paul Mickens, Kevin Osbey, Melody Totten, Anthony Washington, Tameka West, Cheryl White, and Lisa Williams; and

WHEREAS, the future of all of the communities of Georgia depend on individuals such as the Leadership Clayton participants and advisory board members who are willing to dedicate their time and talent to civic affairs.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join in commending the Clayton County Chamber of Commerce and the advisory board of Leadership Clayton for their commitment to the future of their community and congratulate the Leadership Clayton Class of 2010-2011 for being selected for this inestimable program.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to each member of the Leadership Clayton Class of 2010-2011.
