A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending David and Gail Tumlin on the occasion of their 45th wedding anniversary; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, David and Gail Tumlin were united in love and marriage on December 17, 1966 and celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on December 17, 2011; and

WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Tumlin's 45 year union and unyielding loyalty and devotion to one another serve as an inspiration to their family, friends, and neighbors; and

WHEREAS, they have been blessed with the love of their two remarkable daughters, Michelle and Cathryn, their two wonderful son-in laws, Curt Nation and Jay Johnson, and their four adored grandchildren, Jared, Dylan, Audrey, and PJ; and

WHEREAS, David entered the Air Force and served as a guardian of our nation's freedom from 1962 to 1966 and then worked for BellSouth for 34 years, retiring in 2000, while Gail worked as both a homemaker and a secretary, retiring from Milliken and Company after 15 years of service; and

WHEREAS, a man and woman of deep and abiding faith, they are active members at Shoal Creek Baptist Church in LaGrange, where David served the church as a deacon and Gail as a choir director; and

WHEREAS, the devotion, patience, and understanding they have demonstrated have provided the foundation and framework of success in which all of their family members have developed and flourished; and

WHEREAS, known for their generosity and kindness, Mr. and Mrs. Tumlin have made the world a better place in which to live, with many incredible contributions to their family, community, and state; and
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that Mr. and Mrs. Tumlin be congratulated on their many years of happiness and their magnificent 45 year commitment to each other.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join in congratulating David and Gail Tumlin on the grand occasion of their 45th wedding anniversary and extend sincere best wishes for many more happy years together.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to David and Gail Tumlin.
