A RESOLUTION


Commending Mr. A. Reginald Eaves on the occasion of his birthday; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Mr. A. Reginald Eaves has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the vital role that he has played in leadership and his deep personal commitment to the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Eaves made history as the nation's first African American Public Safety Director when appointed to the position by Atlanta Mayor Maynard Jackson; and

WHEREAS, his leadership and guidance were invaluable during his service as vice chairman of the Fulton County Commission and as president of the Georgia Association of Black Elected Officials and the National Association of Black County Officials; and

WHEREAS, a talented journalist, Mr. Eaves has written articles for numerous publications, including the Atlanta Voice, and currently hosts the television talk show, Hot Seat, on People TV, where he addresses issues from around the world; and

WHEREAS, this distinguished gentleman has given inspiration to many through his high ideals, morals, and deep concern for his fellow citizens; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Eaves possesses the vast wisdom which only comes through experience and the strength of character which is achieved through overcoming the many challenges of life; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Eaves is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and

WHEREAS, a kind and generous man, Mr. Eaves brings joy and happiness to his many friends, neighbors, and family members who have the great pleasure of knowing him; and
WHEREAS, by the example Mr. Eaves has made of his life, he makes this world a better place in which to live, and it is only fitting and proper that he be appropriately recognized during this very special and memorable time of his life.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend Mr. A. Reginald Eaves for his efficient, effective, unselfish, and dedicated public service to the State of Georgia and congratulate him upon the occasion of his birthday.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. A. Reginald Eaves.
