RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the members of the Georgia Hospice and Palliative Care
Organization; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Georgia Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (GHPCO), founded in 1979,
is Georgia's leading hospice and palliative care advocacy organization and as
such is dedicated to the mission of promoting quality hospice and palliative
care throughout Georgia so the needs of individuals and their loved ones can be
met at a time when comfort, compassion, and dignity matter most;
and
WHEREAS,
throughout its history, the GHPCO has promoted compassionate, dignified care for
individuals at the end of life and ongoing grief support for their loved ones;
and
WHEREAS,
the mission of the GHPCO and its provider members is to reduce or eliminate
suffering through education, use of evidence based best practices, and the
continued assessment of individual needs and outcomes; and
WHEREAS,
Georgia is served by 187 hospice programs throughout the state, attending to
over 35,000 individuals each year, and by specialized palliative care programs
reaching thousands of individuals and their families; and
WHEREAS,
the citizens of Georgia are well served by the high quality and compassionate
care for the terminally ill and their families available through the hospice and
palliative care programs offered by the provider members of the
GHPCO.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
the work of the Georgia Hospice and Palliative Care Organization and its member
providers.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Georgia Hospice and
Palliative Care Organization.
