A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending the Georgia Department of Natural Resources Commissioner Noel Z. Holcomb on his retirement; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Commissioner Noel Z. Holcomb's career with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources has spanned more than 30 years; and

WHEREAS, during his tenure with the Department of Natural Resources, Commissioner Holcomb has served as Director of the Wildlife Resources Division and has honorably held the position as Commissioner since August 9, 2004; and

WHEREAS, Commissioner Holcomb oversees the management and conservation of Georgia's wildlife, the operation of over 1 million acres of wildlife management areas, public fishing areas, and state parks, and the protection and conservation of coastal marshlands; and

WHEREAS, he is also responsible for ensuring the preservation of historic resources and the implementation of environmentally sound business practices for conservation, economic development, and outdoor recreation interests across the state; and

WHEREAS, Commissioner Holcomb has maintained an impressive record of dedicated service to the agency, displaying extensive knowledge of Georgia's natural, environmental, historical, and recreational resource issues; and

WHEREAS, his significant organizational and leadership talents, his remarkable patience and diplomacy, and his keen sense of vision have earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and associates.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body hereby express appreciation to Commissioner Noel Z. Holcomb for his decades of service to this state and wish him the best for a well deserved retirement enjoying many years of hunting and fishing in the woods and waters of Georgia that he has dedicated his career to managing.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Commissioner Holcomb.
