RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Captain Chris Whitehead and Firefighter Second-Class Steven
Morris; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Captain Chris Whitehead and Firefighter Second-Class Steven Morris of the
Statesboro Fire Department are highly regarded by the citizens of this state and
the local community as officers of unwavering compassion and conviction who are
dedicated to protecting lives and property; and
WHEREAS,
Captain Whitehead and Firefighter Second-Class Morris demonstrated courage and
valor in rescuing a 12 year old boy from his burning home; and
WHEREAS,
these two brave heroes were honored for their selfless actions by the American
Legion Post 90 and presented with a plaque and good conduct medals;
and
WHEREAS,
Captain Whitehead and Firefighter Second-Class Morris pulled an unconscious
young boy from his fiery bedroom without regard for their own personal safety;
and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the members of this body show their
gratitude for the brave and often unheralded contributions of Captain Whitehead
and Firefighter Second-Class Morris and all local firefighters on behalf of the
citizens of this state.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
Captain Chris Whitehead and Firefighter Second-Class Steven Morris for their
courageous actions that went above and beyond the call of duty.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit appropriate copies of this resolution to Captain Chris Whitehead
and Firefighter Second-Class Steven Morris.
