WHEREAS, Ed Holcombe has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the vital role that he has played in leadership and his deep personal commitment to the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, he has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of his time, talents, and energy toward the betterment of this state as evidenced dramatically by his superlative service with the Office of the Governor; and

WHEREAS, Ed Holcombe has served with honor and distinction as Chief of Staff for Governor Sonny Perdue, providing outstanding aid with legal and legislative matters; providing strong executive leadership to the Governor and his administrative support staff in the management of Georgia's state agencies; advising on essential legislative matters; coordinating meetings, business, and messages between Governor Perdue and members of the General Assembly on a variety of agency, legal, and legislative matters; and providing essential information to members of the General Assembly; and

WHEREAS, his significant organizational and leadership talents, his remarkable patience and diplomacy, his keen sense of vision, and his sensitivity to the needs of the citizens of this state have earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and associates; and

WHEREAS, Ed Holcombe has served meticulously in all his duties, approached each task with determination and professionalism, and has served as a friendly and helpful member of the Office of the Governor's staff; and

WHEREAS, members of the General Assembly are incredibly grateful and appreciative of the dedicated and effective service each member of the Governor's Office staff has provided them over the years; and

WHEREAS, Ed Holcombe's vision and unyielding commitment have set the standard for public service, and the assistance provided to the General Assembly has ensured a smooth and efficient legislative process; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend Ed Holcombe for his efficient, effective, unselfish, and dedicated public service to the State of Georgia; recognize the amazing service he has provided the Office of the Governor and the members of the General Assembly; and extend to him their most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Ed Holcombe.
