RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Dr. Rogsbert F. Phillips; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Dr. Rogsbert F. Phillips has long been recognized by the citizens of this state
for her leadership in the field of medicine, her compassionate treatment of her
patients, and her deep concern for the well-being of others; and
WHEREAS,
Dr. Phillips has diligently and conscientiously dedicated her time, talents, and
energy to the fight against breast cancer and finding a cure through her work
with Metro Surgical Associates and as Chief of Surgery at DeKalb Medical Center;
and
WHEREAS,
in 1989, Dr. Phillips founded Sisters...By Choice, Inc., a nonprofit
organization dedicated to the service of and public outreach in medically
underserved communities through education, screening, diagnosis, and treatment;
and
WHEREAS,
her significant organizational and leadership talents, her remarkable patience
and diplomacy, her keen sense of vision, and her sensitivity to the needs of
others have earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues and
associates; and
WHEREAS,
a talented physician, she serves at the forefront of breast cancer research and
performs ductal lavage and breast duct endoscopy, a groundbreaking procedure to
treat breast cancer patients; and
WHEREAS,
Dr. Phillips has been recognized with the 2010 Stand Up! Speak Out Award from
the Georgia Breast Cancer Coalition Fund for her dedication to her patients and
community outreach work; and
WHEREAS,
her selfless service to medically underserved communities in Georgia and her
many patients is worthy of recognition.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
Dr. Rogsbert F. Phillips on her incredible career in the medical field,
congratulate her on her recognition with the 2010 Stand Up! Speak Out Award, and
extend to her their utmost gratitude for the groundbreaking research and
treatment techniques she performs on behalf of breast cancer
patients.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Dr. Rogsbert F. Phillips.
