A
RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the Sequoyah High School physics teams; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
six Sequoyah High School physics teams and their teacher, Ms. Kim Geddes, were
recognized by Toshiba and the National Science Teachers Association for
achieving Honorable Mention in the 2012 Toshiba/NSTA ExploraVision Awards
program; and
WHEREAS,
the program rewards students for exercising their imaginations in the area of
science and exploring its impact on technology; and
WHEREAS,
each student receives a certificate of achievement and a gift from Toshiba;
and
WHEREAS,
the Honorable Mention award places the teams' projects among the top 10 percent
of all ExploraVision projects submitted to the competition this year; and
WHEREAS,
each team selects an emerging technology, imagines and explores what that
technology could be like in 20 years, and prepares an in-depth report conveying
their vision to others; and
WHEREAS,
the six Sequoyah teams who achieved the award submitted entries titled
"Harnessing the Energy in Waste," "Thermoelectric Game Controllers,"
"Hydroelectric Power from Gray Water," "Electricity from Highways," "Helping
Narcolepsy Patients Remain Alert," and "Power of Music"; and
WHEREAS,
the "Harnessing the Energy in Waste" team members are Karrah Lee, Autora
Lorimer, and Jacob Garcia; and
WHEREAS,
the "Thermoelectric Game Controllers" team members are Michael Reece, Nick
Meadows, Erin Motes, and Kelsie Lewis;
and
WHEREAS, the "Hydroelectric Power
from Gray Water" team members are Brooke Mitchell, Chase Johnson, Chase
Caldwell, and Chris Lynn; and
WHEREAS,
the "Electricity from Highways" team members are James Myerscough, Kobi Schmitt,
Kostya Benton, and Daniel Johnson; and
WHEREAS,
the "Helping Narcolepsy Patients Remain Alert" team members are Sarah Carnes,
Megan Popp, Taylor McColl, and Aurielle Porter; and
WHEREAS,
the "Power of Music" team members are Tyler Zimmerman, Chris DeCorso, Dalton
Brown, and Zane Frey; and
WHEREAS,
the State of Georgia looks with great anticipation toward the future of these
bright and promising young citizens.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
the six Sequoyah High School physics teams and their teacher, Ms. Kim Geddes,
for being honored with Honorable Mention in the 2012 Toshiba/NSTA ExploraVision
Awards and extend to them their best wishes for future success.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to each member of the six
Sequoyah High School physics teams and their teacher, Ms. Kim Geddes.
