A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Mr. Steve Middlebrooks; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Mr. Steve Middlebrooks has been nominated for the 2012 TIME Dealer of the Year Award, one of the automobile industry's most prestigious and highly coveted honors, representing the Georgia Automobile Dealers Association in the national competition; and

WHEREAS, recipients are among the nation's most successful auto dealers who must also demonstrate a long-standing commitment to community service; and

WHEREAS, president of Heyward Allen Toyota in Athens, Georgia, Mr. Middlebrooks was born and raised in Warwick, Georgia; and

WHEREAS, he graduated cum laude from the University of Georgia in 1973 and was hired his senior year by B. Heyward Allen to establish a finance and insurance department at Heyward Allen Motor Company, which led to his promotion to general sales manager; and

WHEREAS, an active member of his community, Mr. Middlebrooks is the primary sponsor for the Oconee County High School's After Prom-Night, a proactive approach to curbing reckless partying during the annual celebration; and

WHEREAS, he has received numerous honors, including the Billy Hudson Distinguished Citizen Award for being one of Athens's finest community citizens; and

WHEREAS, he is on the board of directors of Athens First Bank and the University of Georgia Fellowship of Christian Athletes Chaplaincy Board; and

WHEREAS, a man of deep and abiding faith, Mr. Middlebrooks is chairman of counsel on ministries at Young Harris Memorial United Methodist Church; and

WHEREAS, he is united in love and marriage to Susan and together they are blessed with two remarkable sons and six adored grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend Mr. Steve Middlebrooks for his efficient, effective, unselfish, and dedicated service to the Georgia Automobile Dealers Association and extend to him their most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Steve Middlebrooks.
