A
RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Mr. Richie Johnson for his work on the SR 68 Commission; and for
other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mr. Richie Johnson was instrumental in allowing the SR 68 Commission to carry
out its mission to explore the need for a science and technology plan in
Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
he assisted the commission by organizing seven public hearings in six cities
around Georgia and arranged for over 70 panelists to present to the commission
on science and technology topics such as health IT, commercial space, STEM
education, agricultural technology, and data centers; and
WHEREAS,
he organized and facilitated over ten subcommittee meetings and conference calls
with members of the commission; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Johnson researched other states' strategic plans for science and technology
and conducted analysis and reviews as to how they apply to Georgia and provided
the commission with over 200 recommendations on how to build Georgia's future in
science and technology policy; and
WHEREAS,
he joined the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) in September of 2010 as
the Director of Government and Public Affairs where he has provided leadership
in developing and implementing a public policy strategy in line with TAG's
strategic plan; and
WHEREAS,
he works to secure public funding that will benefit TAG and its member
companies; and
WHEREAS,
he earned a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of
Tennessee; and
WHEREAS,
he is united in love and marriage to his wife, Allison, currently residing in
Alpharetta, and they are members of Stonecreek Community Church;
and
WHEREAS,
he previously spent time in the public and private sector, working for a Fortune
500 company and as a field representative for a United States Congressman;
and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the extraordinary accomplishments of
this distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
Mr. Richie Johnson for his many contributions on the SR 68 Commission and
Technology Association of Georgia.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Richie Johnson.
