RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Ms. Ja'Naan for becoming USA Artist in Residence for Sierra
Leone, West Africa; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
a resident of the City of Decatur in DeKalb County, Ms. Ja'Naan has achieved the
distinction of becoming USA Artist in Residence for Sierra Leone, West Africa;
and
WHEREAS,
the USA Artist in Residence for Sierra Leone, West Africa, serves as a goodwill
ambassador to promote reconciliation, cultural understanding, and friendships
between people of the United States and Sierra Leone through jazz, jazz gospel,
music of the African diaspora, theatrical performances, education, and health,
wellness, and cultural awareness; and
WHEREAS,
Ms. Ja'Naan has made outstanding contributions to the arts in the State of
Georgia through her unique multi-ethnic art form and method, which combines
historical themes and current events as both serious messages and entertainment
values, community involvement, health and wellness, development of youth, prison
reform, and senior citizens initiatives; and
WHEREAS,
as the Chief Artistic Officer of the Neat 'N Sync Interaction, Ms. Ja'Naan
provides artists and youths in the State of Georgia and the Southeast with the
opportunity to perform, be a part of public service, and advance the cultural
heritage of the state; and
WHEREAS,
her performances through Ja'Di and as USA Artist in Residence for Sierra Leone,
West Africa, are of inestimable value to her admiring fans throughout Georgia;
and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the accomplishments of this
distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
Ms. Ja'Naan on the success she has deservedly achieved throughout her theatrical
career and congratulate her for achieving USA Artist in Residence for Sierra
Leone, West Africa.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Ms. Ja'Naan.
