RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the 2010 Georgia Cotton Queens; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
cotton has long been recognized as a vital and prosperous crop in the State of
Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
the cotton industry has played a significant role in the economic growth and
development of our state; and
WHEREAS,
the annual Miss Georgia Cotton Scholarship Pageant promotes Georgia cotton
through local, state, regional, and national activities and educates Georgia's
youth on the importance of cotton as part of this state's economy by providing
committed volunteers, leaders, and spokeswomen; and
WHEREAS,
since its creation eight years ago, the Georgia Cotton Queen Scholarship Pageant
has been open to all females, regardless of race, national origin, or
disability; and
WHEREAS,
the pageant winners for 2010 included Baby Miss Cotton Raeley Luke, Teeny Miss
Cotton Tayler Brown, Tiny Miss Cotton Kylie Barnes, Little Miss Cotton Reilly
Grace Bennett, Petite Miss Cotton Emily Grace Cox, Junior Miss Cotton Madison
Barber, Teen Miss Cotton Lindsay Dobbs, and Miss Cotton Lauren Arnold;
and
WHEREAS,
it is only fitting and proper that these beautiful, intelligent, and talented
winners be recognized by this body.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
the 2010 Georgia Cotton Queens for promoting the importance of this agricultural
product of Georgia.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to each Georgia Cotton Queen.
