A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT


To amend an Act creating the Americus-Sumter County Airport Authority, approved April 19, 2000 (Ga. L. 2000, p. 4082), so as to change the membership of the authority; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:

SECTION 1.
An Act creating the Americus-Sumter County Airport Authority, approved April 19, 2000 (Ga. L. 2000, p. 4082), is amended by revising subsection (b) of Section 2 as follows:
"(b) The authority shall consist of six members who shall be residents of Sumter County. Two of the members shall be appointed by the governing authority who may be members of such governing authority of Sumter County for terms of office of two years each. Two of the members shall be appointed by the governing authority of the City of Americus who may be members of such governing authority for terms of office of two years each. The governing authorities of Sumter County and the City of Americus shall jointly appoint two members, who shall be a residents of Sumter County and may be residents of the City of Americus, for a term of office of two years. Members of the authority shall serve the terms specified and until their respective successors are appointed and qualified; provided, however, that any member of the authority may be removed at any time by the governing authority which appointed such member, with or without cause. Any member of the authority may be selected and appointed to succeed himself or herself. After such appointment, the members of such authority shall enter upon their duties. Any vacancy on the authority shall be filled in the same manner as was the original appointment of the member whose term of membership resulted in such vacancy and the person so selected and appointed shall serve for the remainder of the unexpired term. The members of the authority shall be reimbursed for all actual expenses incurred in the performance of their duties out of funds of the authority. The authority shall make rules and regulations for its own government. It shall have perpetual existence."

SECTION 2.
All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
