BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
AN ACT
To
amend Article 6 of Chapter 4 of Title 18 of the Official Code of Georgia
Annotated, relating to continuing garnishment proceedings, so as to extend the
effective period of a continuing garnishment; to provide for related matters; to
provide for an effective date and applicability; to repeal conflicting laws; and
for other purposes.
BE
IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
SECTION
1.
Article
6 of Chapter 4 of Title 18 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating
to continuing garnishment proceedings, is amended by replacing the phrase "one
hundred seventy-ninth" with the phrase "five hundred thirty-ninth" and by
repealing the phrase "one hundred ninety-fifth" with the phrase "five hundred
fifty-ninth" where ever such phrases appear in:
(1)
Code Section 18-4-111, relating to property, money, or effects subject to
continuing garnishment;
(2)
Code Section 18-4-113, relating to contents of summons of continuing garnishment
and filing and contents of answers; and
(3)
Code Section 18-4-118, relating to forms for continuing
garnishment.
SECTION
2.
This
Act shall become effective on July 1, 2011, and shall apply to garnishments
filed on or after such date.
SECTION
3.
All
laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
