A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending Braxton Owens; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Braxton Owens is an outstanding student at Elbert County Comprehensive High School where he has excelled in the academic curriculum and brought fame and honor to the school and community as a state wrestling champion; and

WHEREAS, Braxton earned the top title in the state with his win in the 119 pound weight class at the Class AA State Championships; and

WHEREAS, this stellar young man epitomizes the courage, determination, leadership, and character necessary to attain excellence in athletic prowess and performance; and

WHEREAS, Braxton finished his stellar season 35-2; earned first place at the Patriot Classic, the East Metro Tournament, and at the Area Traditional Tournament; and placed second at the Panther Invitational and the Sectionals Tournament; and

WHEREAS, his months of training and perfecting his maneuvers have been rewarded with his impressive win, and it is appropriate that he hold the title of champion; and

WHEREAS, Braxton's victory was the culmination of a season of hard work, dedication, and excellent sportsmanship; and

WHEREAS, his superior skill, strategy, stamina, and control have earned him respect and admiration among his teammates and challengers; and

WHEREAS, it is clearly fitting and proper that the superlative abilities of this accomplished and gifted student-athlete, as well as the pride, honor, and respect he has brought himself, his school, and his community, be appropriately recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend and congratulate Braxton Owens on his state wrestling championship and extend to him their sincerest best wishes for success in the future.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Braxton Owens.
