A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending Yi Yin; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Yi Yin, of Alpharetta, Georgia, has earned national recognition with a 2009 Prudential Spirit of Community Award; and

WHEREAS, established in 1995 by Prudential Financial and the National Association of Secondary School Principals, the Prudential Spirit of Community Award honors young volunteers across America who have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to service in their community; and

WHEREAS, a junior at Northview High School, Yi Yin is the director of Take a Swing, a community service organization dedicated to teaching disadvantaged children to play tennis; and

WHEREAS, through Yi's leadership, dedication, and hard work, the organization has trained approximately 40 teen coaches and served more than 150 children in the community, providing them with both tennis skills and interaction with positive role models; and

WHEREAS, the success of the State of Georgia, the strength of communities, and the vitality of this nation depend heavily upon the service of young people and their willingness to devote their time, energy, and talent to others; and

WHEREAS, Yi Yin represents the true spirit of service, peer leadership, and responsibility, and the State of Georgia looks with great anticipation to the future of this bright and promising young student.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Yi Yin's incredible community service to this state and extend congratulations for being recognized with a 2009 Prudential Spirit of Community Award.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Yi Yin.
