A RESOLUTION


Recognizing Saturday, July 11, 2009, as Georgia Youth Neighborhood Entrepreneur Day; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the members of this body believe in the importance of community involvement in local youth, grounded in the principle that a community that invests in youth will guarantee the community's well being and long-term quality of life; and

WHEREAS, providing youth with access to business and the opportunity to develop business models and plans fosters essential life skills and promotes excellent future community leaders; and

WHEREAS, involvement in entrepreneurial activities will strengthen the character and competence of Georgia's youth and ensure our students' future academic success, their preparation for Georgia's jobs of the future, and their ability to compete in a global economy; and

WHEREAS, on Georgia Youth Neighborhood Entrepreneur Day, communities are encouraged to provide advice, support, and guidance to neighborhood youth to establish a small business, with the help of adult supervision, in order to provide exposure to business and entrepreneurship.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body call on leaders in business and all citizens of Georgia to provide opportunity and exposure to business principles and the spirit of entrepreneurship on Saturday, July 11, 2009, Georgia Youth Neighborhood Entrepreneur Day.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to members of the public and the press.
